Background
Born in 1981, The Reverend K. Nicholas Forti was raised in the Richmond area and received a Bachelor’s degree at Radford University and a Master of Divinity at Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria. After seminary, he became chaplain and associate rector for university ministries at St. Paul’s Memorial Church in Charlottesville. After a few years, he felt called to leave Virginia to earn a second master’s degree, this time in Sacred Theology, from The University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. During this time he also served as Theologian in Residence at Southside Abbey, Chattanooga.
Father Nik returned to his home state, and in August 2014, he began serving as priest and pastor of our community—The Fork Church of St Martin’s Parish, Doswell. He lives in Ashland with his wife, Sarah and his son, Thomas. Sarah also has a Master of Divinity degree and works as Program Director for St Michael’s Episcopal Church, Bon Air.
As Father Nik sought God’s guidance on the vision for Fork and how to help the vestry and parishioners discover that vision, this was given to him: “We are to be grounded in Scripture, guided by tradition, and growing in grace.” This vision continues to guide the church.
