Our Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper will be Tuesday, March 4 in the Parish Hall, preceding the beginning of Lent on March 5, Ash Wednesday.

Our weekly Lenten study program will be Faith & Film: Medieval Christianity. We’ll screen the first movie in the Parish Hall after Liturgy on Sunday, March 2, and discuss it on Thursday evening, March 6.

At its Parish Annual Meeting January 26, 2025, the Fork Church elected two new members to the Vestry for 2025.  They are Esmond McKoy and Harrison Smith.

Much appreciation was expressed to members whose terms have ended. They are Glenn Murphy and Sid Skjei.

Those whose terms have not yet ended include Patty Skjei, Janet Taylor, Elizabeth Berry and Lynda Wright.

Senior warden, junior warden and the various ministry assignments will be determined in February.

This is a great time to join our Adult Sunday School!  Following a fall study of the Book of the Prophet Isaiah, we are moving on to our Spring study, Reading the Gospels Spiritually with the Gospel according to John.

We are excited to begin plans for the 2026 celebration of the 300th anniversary of the Fork Church of St. Martin’s Parish. Two committees are being formed – one to look back at our history and the other to look forward to discern who God is calling us to be and where we are going.

Stay tuned as we plan multiple events, discuss ways to celebrate and include other churches and groups, and look for ideas on ways forward for our treasured church.

Two women’s book groups meet on alternate Thursdays:

BBC (Becoming Beloved Community) Book Group – formerly known as WOW – is reading Edgar & Myrlie by Joy-Ann Reid. Kathy Thomas leads the group by Zoom. Contact Kathy at 804-852-6823 if you are interested in joining the BBC Women’s Book Group.

The Men’s Book Group is now reading Cradle of America: A History of Virginia by Peter Wallenstein. Plan to join the men of Fork Church every other Thursday at 7:30 am. The Parish Choir has moved back upstairs to the organ loft with the return of cooler weather. The choir rehearses each Sunday from 9:15 to 9:50 and briefly following the liturgy, and is preparing for a choral evensong on November 17.

The Weekly Morning Prayer Group meets each Wednesday at 10 am, with the Eucharist with Healing Prayers on the first Wednesday of each month. All in need of healing prayers are invited and encouraged to come.

New Vestry members were installed following the March 3, 2024, service at Fork Church. Joining the Vestry are Lynda Wright and Janet Taylor. Appreciation was expressed to outgoing members Pat Temple and Jim Smythe.

In addition new members, the 2024 Vestry includes Sid Skjei (senior warden), Glenn Murphy (junior warden), Patty Skjei and Elizabeth Berry.
