The Opera: On the evening of October 25, 2008, “A Night at the Fork Opera” debuted and astonished everyone packed inside our Parish House. Ingenious stage craft, magical choreography, and rousing songs had gifted a wondrous musical for our parish family and friends. With singing, dialogue, and dancing, our production is actually a musical theater. We call it an “opera” because we’ve created an amazing character who is the phantom of our opera. And as our youth will tell you, “He’s a good guy!” Our first show ran for one night; it was a sell-out. Many who heard the rave reviews asked us to stage a second performance. We could not, but we promised more productions in the future. And so we did, with performances in 2009, 2012, 2014 and 2016. After our cast-of-all-ages has taken their bows, dinner is served. It’s all part of Fork’s parish life – a wonderful life. Will there be an opera revival? Stay tuned!
The Family Picnic at the Smythes kicks off our summer. After worshiping in the beautiful pavilion we have lunch and swim. The kids have a wonderful time and it is a great time and place to worship and play together.
Family Weekend at Shrine Mont usually takes place in the fall.
Stewardship Stew takes place in mid-October. We make and sell the best Brunswick stew around and have fun doing it! The money raised goes to the church’s General Fund.
